About the MVBA

The MVBA was founded in 1974. Established to be a club where bee enthusiasts from all over Southern New Hampshire could come and talk about what we love: BEES! We meet once a month (Feb-June & Sept-Dec) for talks of bees and important topics that are facing them. With increased environmental and pest issues having other beekeepers to bounce ideas off of each other.

Come join us at a meeting!

First Saturday of the month. 6:30 social time, meeting starts at 7:00 (Feb-June & Sept-Dec).

Bee School 2026

We run our bee school for 6 weeks in February and March every year. We hold them at St. James Church 646 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH 03054 from 6:30-8:30. We also offer a zoom option. We record the lessons so you can go back and watch them as many times as you’d like later.

We’ll typically open the bee school for signups the beginning of January. If you have any questions please reach out to president@mvbee.org

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Yes and no! You typically need to go into a hive once a week. You are checking on the health of the hive and evaluate if you need to help them in any way. It’s often hot and you are constantly thinking of the bees and what they may need. But we LOVE our bees so the work doesn’t seem like work to us beekeepers!

  • You should take a bee class to gain essential knowledge for successful and responsible beekeeping, as classes teach you to manage hives, care for bees' health, understand local conditions like weather and forage, avoid costly mistakes, and learn practical handling skills with equipment and bees in a safe, mentored environment. This education is crucial, especially given the challenges honeybees face from varroa mites and other stressors, and helps you become a more connected and informed participant in your local ecosystem.

  • That is the wonderful thing about being part of a club. Lots of members to become friends with and ask for help. If you take our bee school we’ll give you are mentor so you can ask any questions that come up
